Touched By an Angel

On August 13,1996 my three year old granddaughter, Brittany, was sleeping in my bedroom. When I got up to go to work, I awakened her mother, Jill, to go lay with her as I was afraid she might awaken and mess up the room! Little did I know what was to come.

A few hours later I took a break and went home for a coffee. I heard screaming. My daughter was trying to get her two babies out of the house. Brittany, the three year old was with her, but the ten month old was in another room. She got downstairs and screamed "THE HOUSE IS ON FIRE!"

Impossible! I thought in disbelief. I just came home for a coffee!

My son and I ran upstairs into a blazing inferno. Thankfully we were able to get out of the house. My daughter took the credit for getting the babies out safely. Her hands and feet were slightly burned and Brittany had burns on her face but that was a small price to pay for getting out alive and well!

A week or so later Brittany crawled into bed with my husband and me again. She looked up at me and said, "Grammy, Mommy lied."

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"I SAVED MOMMY!" she said loudly.

First I laughed, but she got angry and said she really did save her mother. She told me a white, shiny lady woke her up and told her to wake up mommy. She said she shook her mother a few times but she didn't wake up. At that point the white lady put her hand on Brittany's and they touched Jill together. She said that when they touched her mommy she awoke and screamed, wrapped the blanket around Brit and ran out of the room.

Brit will be twelve years old this weekend and her story hasn't changed. I firmly believe she was touched by an angel.
